So, this tropical beauty tastes and looks good, how does she smoke? Banana Crack delivers an uplifting, happy high that lasts for hours. She’s also great for extracts, as you’ll get good results even from trim.
Banana Crack is a relatively new strain. That means there’s less information about her. However, you’ll get a high yield. You’ll also get a harvest after about 8 weeks of flowering. Indoors, you’ll have to cut light down to 11/13 at minimum to flower. Outdoors, you should expect to harvest in mid-October in northern latitudes.

However, she also makes a splash with potency. You’ll get good, long, and relaxing highs out of this strain.
Plus, Mint Chocolate Bananas is very easy to grow. In fact, she needs so little attention you can virtually leave her alone. Flowering is also fast at just 8 weeks. And, she delivers high yield. She also hits hard, with a relaxing, euphoric, and physical high. That’s a perfect combination for relaxing with friends – making this an incredible “Dessert strain”.
Dank Bananas is also bushy and compact. That makes her a good choice for growing indoors. However, you’ll have to prune and ensure good air circulation to keep the mold down. Outdoors, this plant gets taller, but you’ll still want to prune leaves and some side branches.
Plus, Dank Bananas has several known phenotypes. Some produce less on secondary branches. Others deliver better indoors. And, you’ll see a flowering period ranging from 9-12 weeks.
- THC Levels: 23% (High)
- Indica/Sativa: 50% Indica/50% Sativa

5. Banana Krumble
This Banana Punch x OG Kush strain blends intense banana flavors with OG Kush’s high yield. The result, a vigorous, fast-growing plant with huge buds and huge banana flavor. Unlike most other banana strains, Banna Krumble delivers ripe sweet fruit with notes of fuel.
Banana Krumble also needs a bit more care. You’ll have to feed her quite a bit for high yields. Plus, buds can get so heavy that branches snap. Make sure you’re ready to stake her as buds begin to fatten. However, she finishes in late September in Northern latitudes, making her a good choice for areas that have to race the frost.
Finally, you’ll get a strong, physical high that leaves you on the couch and wanting to socialize. This is a great party weed. Plus, with incredibly resinous buds and leaves, this is a great strain for extracts – although you might lose some of the banana terpenes depending on how you extract.

Additionally, you can easily adapt it to most cropping, whether Sea of Green, Screen of Green, Super-cropping, or lollipopping.
However, this indica-dominant strain is prone to mold and mildew. That means you’ll need air circulation and some pruning or training to prevent mold. But, buds are prone to mold because they’re incredibly dense. Indoors, we’d recommend 6–10-gallon pots for the best results. Or, you could go for a hydro grow, but she can get a bit big for that.
Once you harvest, you’ll get 500-850 grams of premium, banana-flavored weed.

Plus, Banana Mango does more than taste good. She grows big, fast, and vigorous. You’ll have little to worry about in terms of disease. However, you will want to ensure there’s good air circulation wherever you’re growing her. This strain is resistant to powdery mildew but vulnerable to mold. On the other hand, with a height averaging 230-300cm outdoors, she’s hard to hide.
If you do grow this strain indoors, use cropping or straining. Her large size means you’ll have to take some measures to prevent her from outgrowing your setup. Plus, more light and more feed mean more weed.

- Indica/Sativa: 25% Indica/75% Sativa
- CBD Levels: Less than 1% (Low)

8. Banana Diesel
Banana Diesel blends Banana Sativa with Sour Diesel for a Sativa-dominant strain that delivers hard on THC. You also get intense flavors. In fact, Banana Diesel’s strong banana tones blend incredibly well with the sour diesel, to create an almost unique flavor.
That’s great if you like sweet but not too sweet.
Banana Diesel also hits hard. While her THC count hasn’t been reliably categorized, she has at least 20% THC. Plus, you’ll want to sit down when you smoke, because she hits with a heady cerebral high that might leave you feeling dizzy. The high that follows is creative, heady, happy, and energetic, typical of sativa strains.
While Banana Diesel is alright to grow indoors, many find her to be too big. This is a Sativa-dominant strain and she can hit 300cm or more outdoors. Indoors, use Screen of Green, Sea of Green, or Cropping to keep her shorter. Otherwise, this strain is relatively easy – just invest in pruning and nutes.

9. Tropicana Banana
Tropicana Banana from Barney’s Farm is sometimes called the “holy grail” of cannabis. Why? This plant delivers incredible yield, flavor, and durability. She flowers in just 9-10 wees. And, with a yield ranging from 700-2000g, she has one of the biggest harvests out there. On top of that, you get flavors and aromas of rich fruit and bananas for a truly incredible smoke.
If that weren’t enough, she delivers a soft, relaxing and calming body high – perfect for staying home and relaxing. Buds are light purple, sticky, and coated with crystal.
On the other hand, this strain won’t finish until the end of October in many climates. That means you’ll have to keep her indoors in many colder areas. However, that’s normally okay, because despite the high yield, she stays as short as 110 cm indoors.
- THC Levels: 22-25%
- Indica/Sativa: 40% Indica/60% Sativa
- CBD: Less than 1% (low)
- Flowering Time: 9-10 weeks
- Yield: (grams per square meter) 700-2000g

- Optimal Climate: Mediterranean, Temperate
- Genetics: Tropicana x Banana Kush
- Growing Difficulty: Easy
- Effects: Relaxation, body high, Calming
- Flavors/Aroma: Banana, Fruity, Tropical
10. Banana Blaze
Banana Blaze is a pure indica strain. In fact, it’s a banana phenotype of Afghani Kush. That should be incredibly interesting for everyone who loves this classic strain. This Dutch Passion breed is nothing more than a Banana phenotype Afghani crossed back again and again to bring out more and more of the banana. The result, an incredibly banana strain with all of Afghani’s normal properties.
Afghani is also great for indoor and outdoor grows. This pure indica does very well with little feed. It also doesn’t need too much training, because you’ll get the classic Christmas tree shape. However, you’ll want to make sure to provide ventilation, especially near the end of the grow – so lollipopping is a good idea.
Otherwise, Banana Blaze gets big, strong, and yields a predictable 400-450g per square meter. You’ll have little to worry about, except maybe over feeding.
- THC Levels: 13-17% (Low)
- Indica/Sativa: 100% Indica
- CBD Levels: Less than 1% (Low)
- Flowering Time: 8 weeks

What Gives Cannabis its Banana Flavor?
If you’ve ever had banana candy, you know that it smells a lot more like banana than it tastes. That’s because it uses the terpene isoamyl acetate. This terpene was isolated as the primary aroma in bananas. And, while, in candy, it’s overwhelmed by sugar, it’s still there.
Many strains of cannabis also have isoamyl acetate terpenes. These mostly come through in the form of an intense banana smell. You’ll also get light banana flavors. On the other hand, banana strains with high sugar content taste even more like bananas. This results in the “ripe” and “over ripe” banana flavor profiles. Therefore, the best banana cannabis combines isoamyl acetate with sugar.
